Urge Promoting Spain-GCC Ties Saturday.
Written by KUNA An international symposium urged here Friday for tapping into the potentials of economic and commercial cooperation between Spain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
There are huge potentials of cooperation particularly in the areas of renewable energy, environment protection, health, infrastructure and communication technology, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Spain Dr. Hessa Abdullah Ahmed Al-Utaibah cited the speakers at the gathering as saying.
"Key speakers agreed that the oil-rich Gulf region, especially the UAE, plays a central role in the world economy and has highly-promising investment opportunities while Madrid is the world's largest financial and commercial hub.
"More than 4,000 global companies invest in Madrid capitalizing on the investment-attractive atmosphere in the city," Ambassadress Al-Utaibah told KUNA.
She made the remarks on the sidelines of the symposium which gathered a large number of economists and investors from Spain, Europe and the Gulf region.
"The UAE-Spain ties are growing fast, driven by a range of bilateral economic, commercial and cultural agreements. "Emirates has launched direct flights between Dubai and Madrid recently, which helped promote the trade exchanges," she said, noting that the airline is planning to launch similar flights between Dubai and Barcelona.
