NEW YORK: Bloomberg Brief on Wednesday announced the launch of its Islamic Finance weekly newsletter, which gives global investors and financial advisors critical data and analytics to stay ahead of the developments and trends in the world of Shariah-compliant finance.

Today, global financial institutions in the $1 trillion Islamic finance market gather expert insights and assets to serve a wide pool of investors as well as expand relevant products and services. Published every Monday, Islamic Finance publishes expert insight from the industry's most influential thought leaders, decision makers about an industry that is growing exponentially, especially in emerging markets.

The Islamic Finance newsletter monitors Shariah-compliant bond and loan offerings in the pipeline, gathers underwriter rankings and covers the issuance of new sukuk assets, sales of which have reached $6.6 billion in 2012, up over 300% on the prior year according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

“The Islamic finance market is dynamic and fast moving, which creates space for a service that both educates market participants and keeps them ahead of the game," commented Ted Merz, News Content Business Manager for Bloomberg Briefs. “We believe this mix of news, views, data and analysis will help give investors insight into market movements and thus a competitive edge."

Bloomberg adds the Islamic Finance Brief to other significant initiatives that have grown the Bloomberg library of information resources about the market. In February 2011, Bloomberg launched a dedicated Islamic Finance Platform (ISLM) along with a Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) sukuk index, providing a benchmark for MYR sovereign sukuk investments.

Then in June 2011, in collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia, Bloomberg launched the Bloomberg Malaysian Foreign Currency Sukuk Index (BMSSUTR), a non-ringgit denominated index.

Islamic Finance joins 14 other Bloomberg Brief newsletters, which together now have more than 165,000 subscribers. Bloomberg Brief titles will now include: Economics, Economics Europe, Economics Asia, Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Mergers, Bankruptcy & Restructuring, Leveraged Finance, Municipal Market, Structured Notes, Risk, Financial Regulations, Climate & Carbon, Technical Strategies, and Islamic Finance.
